Living alongside the wild

Community & Wildlife

Randilen is an important part of this wider ecosystem, providing a protected landscape where wildlife can disperse while local communities continue to live alongside it.

The Wilderness

Randilen Wildlife Management Area, an important part of the greater Tarangire ecosystem

Beyond the boundaries of the national park, elephants and other wildlife move across a much larger landscape in search of food, water and space. Randilen provides critical habitat and a safe dispersal area, particularly during the dry season.

Here, conservation is not separate from the safari experience. It is the landscape you are staying in.

The Community

Conservation That Benefits People

The future of Randilen's wildlife is closely connected to the communities who live alongside it.

Randilen MWA works with local Maasai communities to reduce human–elephant conflict. Through initiatives such as the Crop Protection Toolkit, participating community members have reduced elephant-related crop damage by as much as 90%, helping protect valuable harvests and household income.

When communities benefit from conservation, they have a stronger reason to protect the wildlife and wilderness around them.
